Children
Small rabbits are best suited to children, breeds such as a flemish giant are totally wrong. Small breeds such as Netherland dwarfs or any small lop breed make good pets for children. Netherlands are well known for being skittish but if handled correctly and bought from a reputable breeder they should make great pets. The dutch breed is also a very good choice as they are very sweet natured. Also, they are easier for them to handle as they are so small, note that Netherlands cannot be kept as house pets. |
Older Respective Owners
Any member of the lop family make good pets for this particular catagory. Lops are very doclie and make fantastic pets, they also make excellent house pets. With their floppy ears and sweet faces they are a winner with everyone and are very affectionate. The French Lop is the gentle giant of the family and occupy all of the lops best features and personality traits. These large rabbits have been known to be walked like a dog with a lead and harness but theres no reason why a smaller lop can walked this way. |
Long Haired Breeds
Other than the members of the lop family Angoras can make brilliant house bunnies. Because of their long fur they cannot be kept in hutches in fear that it will become matted. Due to this long fur, you have to be willing to brush it everyday to get knots and tangles out, but they are a wonderful rabbit and is very affectionate. Another long haired breed is the Jersey Woolie and it to needs grooming everyday. |
