Mabon is the time of the year when the crops are harvested, and like the spring eguinox, light and dark are in perfect balance. While the God waits to be reborn in the womb of the Goddess, she watches him begin to whither and die as her lover. Mabon gets it's name from the Celtic god Mabon, God of light and and son of the mother goddess Modron. This is the time to enjoy your year's harvest and give thanks for your abundance of food. It is appropriate for this time of the year to decorate your altar with acorns, oak leaves, pine cones, corn, and baskets of other types of fruit. A common tradition of this time is to take a walk in a wild place, such as up in the hills, and gather seed pods to plant in the spring. Traditional foods if this time are pies, corn, beans, and baked squash.
