Parlor Roller World Champion

By Paul Gamino

One could win the great Pageant of Pigeons held in Los Angeles California or even win the National Pigeon Association Grand National held once a year in various parts of the country and possibly make the claim that he or she has the best pigeon in the country for that particular breed.  However, unless one breeds a Parlor Roller that rolls longer than 191' 2" there is only one person that can make the claim of having the reining World Champion Parlor Roller.  On November 4, 2000, a gentleman by the name of Kirk Milinor (See photo to the lower left side of webpage) of Halethorpe, Maryland had an almond cock, band number 2000CHRC735 (See photo below), roll just nine feet shy of the two hundred foot mark.  Yes, ladies and gentlemen this Parlor Tumbler, which is the rolling type, rolled without stopping one hundred and ninety one feet two inches.  In addition to rolling one hundred and ninety-one feet two inches, Kirk’s young almond rolled in a straight line, without a tail wind, on level ground.

Kirk Milnor has been breeding Parlor Rollers for 5 years and has had several personal best distances of 132’, 98’, and 90’ feet.  As one can see, Mr. Milnor is no stranger to having Parlor Rollers roll great distances.  The question is will Kirk Milnor or someone else in the American Parlor Roller Association be the first to break the 200-foot barrier.  Let us hope that pigeon shows across this great land and show secretaries come to the realization that a grass area greater than 200 feet will be needed to accommodate a potential world record setter.  There is no doubt that the Parlor Rollers in 2002 and beyond will be rolling longer and greater distances.
