About the Maker of This Website (Me)
My name is Kalindi, I live in Oregon and I'm fifteen (2004). And I absolutely love Tintin books!
I first found out about them from my mother -- she read them when she was my age too. So I got one from the library, it was The Castafiore Emerald. But guess what? I didn’t like it! When I was reading it I just wanted to get it over with. I just wanted to finish it for my mother, since she seemed to like Tintin books. And I couldn’t figure out what all the ‘blistering barnacles’ was about.
But then I gave Tintin books a second chance. I got The Blue Lotus from the library and liked that one. From then on I liked Tintin books. I think The Castafiore Emerald was too late a book in the series to start with. I didn’t know anything about Tintin or anybody to start with that book.
But after that when I recalled The Castafiore Emerald I still didn’t like it. So then I borrowed it from the library to reread it. Well, I have no clue why I didn’t like it. It’s a great book and now I own it. But it’s not an average Tintin book, Hergé was seeing if he could make a Tintin book where nothing really happens.
I own 13 Tintin books, and am getting more until I have them all. It’s amazing how good Tintin books are for rereading! I’ve reread one of my books, The Black Island, at least 8 times, plus I’ve read it here and there on other times. I love The Black Island. But is it my favorite? I don’t know. I love all Tintin books. I like books that take Tintin to other countries, especially deserts and jungles. It is a really hard to pick just one Tintin book as my favorite. Perhaps my favorites are The Black Island, Tintin and the Picaros, The Calculus Affair, and Land of Black Gold.
But I’ll never be sure, they’re all my favorites. Hergé was extremely good a making Tintin books. If he were alive I would thank him for writing such great books. I also thank my mother for telling me about Tintin books. She still reads them, even now. I got my best friend into Tintin too. She’s a fan of the books like me.
I’ve read all the Tintin books and now I’ll just keep on rereading them. It’s just as great! But I haven't read the first Tintin book: Tintin and the Land of the Soviets. Boy, I want to read it. And I really, really want to see the Tintin TV show and movies based on the books! Yeah.
Well, I think I’ve said enough. Now you all know about the maker of this website, and how much I like Tintin.
