Engelmann's Experiment

In 1883, an elaborate experiment demonstration the action spectrum for photosynthesis was first performed by Thomas Engelmann, a German botanist.  He illuminated a filamentous algae with light that had been passed though a prism, thus exposing different segments of the algae to different wavelengths.  What can you conclude about his experiment in relation to the Aerobic Bacteria growth?
