Göran Danielsson

Who is Göran Danielsson?

Göran Danielsson from Dalarna in Sweden, has been a part of many country- and rock & roll bands since 1974.

A few examples are Western Express, Country Minstrels, Tennessee Five and RockBox. Most frequently heard he is, as the secret male voice of REDNEX, from the world-wide number one hits Cotton Eye Joe, Old Pop In An Oak, and several others. He has been performing in television shows on several occasions in many european countries, both as a lead singer in different bands, and as a solo artist.

Göran’s musical background is that he has been singing with different kinds of bands, and as a studio musician, since 1975. Most frequently he has been working with Country Music, but also pop, rock and dance music.

In May 1994, Ranis (whom Göran had never met, or even heard of before), called him up and asked him if he would like to come to his studio and sing the male vocal part of a song in a new project that he and his friends in the Future Crew Team was working with. Göran went there and recorded the song Cotton Eye Joe, wich he was quite familiar with in the ”old” version from the late 1800’s.

After that he didn’t hear much from the Future Crew team until the beginning of August the same year, when Ranis called him up again and told him about a new record contract with Zomba Records, and the plans of recording an album. He asked Göran if he was interested in continuing doing the male vocal part, and of course he said yes.

When the plans of making a group for live performances came up, they took the decision that Göran should not be a part of it, mainly because of his private situation, with a job that he was very fond of etc. But he has since then continued as a part of the concept, being ”the male voice”, and he have been so on most of the hit-singles and in a lot of the songs on the albums, Sex And Violins (12 songs) and Farm Out (10 songs).
