Agathopes Beach in the southwest of Syros at 14 kilometer distance from the capital Ermoupolis, close to the village of Finikas. Agathopes Beach is a beautiful sandy beach where you can also rent parasols and beachchairs (in the high season, while we were there there were only parasols, but this might have changed in the meantime). There are also trees where you can find some shade. Along the beach there are some accommodations and there are several tavernas where you can get a drink or something to eat. The beach is famous for the flowers of the white beachlilys that grow in the sand and that cover large parts of the beach in the summer. Signs on the beach will tell you that that they are special and that you are not allowed to pick them and that you should be careful not to walk over them. In spring the beach is visited by Mediterranean seals that give birth here.

The beach of Agathopes lies in a protected bay, has calm waters and it is usually not affected by the winds. The sea is shallow, making it suitable and safe for families with small children. The bay in which Agathopes Beach lies in undeep and you have to walk quite a bit if you want to swim. The water is clear and quite warm. Some people concider Agathopes Beach to be the best beach on the island of Syros. Opposite the bay of Agathopes there are two small islets that are called Schinonissi and Strongylo.

The Brazzera is located in the beach village of Finikas, in the beautiful Gulf of Finikas, in the south-west region of Syros island, a mere 10 minute drive from the main port of Syros.
