A collection of not too crowded small beaches in the southwest of Mykonos, next to Ornos beach - more or less one large beach which is divided into two by a rock. Around the beach are a lot of bamboo fields, and at the end of the beach there's a small church (well, you find those almost everywhere, so this is no major news, the beach is named after the church). There's a regular bus transfer from Mykonos (every hour I believe) to these beaches, and they are very close to Mykonos town (4 km). You can also make the walk along the coast from Mykonos Town to Agios Ioannis as we have often done.

The beaches of Agios Ioannis are partly with sunbeds and umbrellas, and partly without, so you can choose. Agios Ioannis Beach consists of soft sand and it is easy to go into the sea. Agios Ioannis beach is also suitable for families with small children. It is not completey spared from the northern wind on days when it blows heavily, but on most of the days it is fairly calm here. Agios Ioannis Beach is one of the best places on Mykonos to watch the sunset. From the beach you look out over the historical island of Delos. You can find all amenities near the beach and there are all kinds of accommodations (including villas with private pool) and restaurants to choose from. Closeby is the cute beach of Kapari which is also suitable for naturists.
