The restaurants of the island of Alonissos in Greece |
Here are some reviews of restaurants in Alonissos where we had something to drink or to eat. We are looking for service, speed, friendliness, but of course especially for how the food is being served and how it tastes. All reviews are strictly personal, and it may be that you have other experiences. |
Corali Cafe in Patitiri |
Corali Cafe is located in the port of Patitiri and is the place to have a glass of wine or a cocktail. There are some simple snacks on the menu as well. There are comfortable chairs and all drinks are served with a small bowl of nuts. The service is friendly. Our verdict: an 8 out of 10. |
Ostria restaurant in Patitiri |
A very good restaurant and probably the best in the harbor of Patitiri. The toilets are neat and the service is very friendly. Ostria Restaurant was one of the restaurants that was recommended to us by the owner of the Ikion Hotel where we stayed. We have eaten there twice. There is an extensive menu including pastas, fish, shrimp, salads, pizzas and chicken. The first time we ordered the pasta with tuna, grilled vegetables and the "grilled mix". All the dishes taste great, with the only drawback that the French fries were limp. On a second visit we ordered swordfish, gyros and a salad with chicken. Everything looks beautiful again, and also tastes delicious. This time the fries or crunchy. We get a basket of different pieces of bread though, which clearly were picked together from leftovers from other tables. For me a wrong kind of saving and a mortal sin. I ask if it can be replaced, and than I get nice fresh bread and an excuse from just about everyone who works there. Our verdict: very good, an 8.5 out of 10 instead of the 9 that I first had in my head (this because of the bread incident). |
Tzitzifia Restaurant in Patitiri |
One of the tavernas in the port of Patitiri. The menu features mostly Italian dishes such as pizzas and pastas. We order a pizza with everything, lamb chops, saganaki (fried cheese) and tzatziki. The bread is fresh, the tzatziki could have done with some more garlic, the fries are tasty and crunchy. The pizza is one in the Greek style: with a thick bottom, lots of cheese and no tomato sauce. Our verdict: a 7 out of 10. |
Island Beach Bar in Leftos Gialos beach |
What a very nice place this is: the Island Beach Bar on Leftos Gialos beach. Unfortunately we did not have much time the day we were here, but otherwise we certainly would have stayed longer. There are sunbeds and comfortable sofas and chairs and there is a beautiful pool of which you can make free use if you order something. There is a nice lounge music in the background. The service is very friendly (Giannis and his family) and the coffee is delicious. Moreover Leftos Gialos is one of the most picturesque beaches on the island of Alonissos, with lots of small white pebbles and a sea that is bluer than blue. The beach is so beautiful that occasionally even an excursion boat from the nearby island of Skopelos will make a stop here, so that everyone on board can have a look. Highly recommended if you just want to make a short stop or if you want to relax for a few hours. Our verdict: a 9 out of 10. |
To Fanari restaurant in Steni Vala |
To Fanari restaurant is located in the harbor of Steni Vala on the island of Alonissos and is specialized in seafood, but there are also plenty of other things on the menu, such as chicken, souvlaki, moussaka and salads. We ordered a linguini with tuna, a chicken souvlaki and a Greek salad. Everything tastes great, but unfortunately the French fries are not crispy. The Greek salad is very good, with delicious feta cheese and some onions, the bread is fresh and crisp. Our verdict: an 8 out of 10. |
Alonissos restaurant in Patitiri |
Another one of the restaurants in the port of Patitiri. There is an extensive menu with snacks including crepes, waffles, sandwiches, omelettes and various kinds of breakfasts. They serve Illy coffee. The portions served are large, it is cheap, the service is friendly and the fries are crispy and delicious. Both the hot dog and the club sandwich we ordered are really fine. Our verdict: an 8.5 out of 10. |
