The beach of Damatria on the island of Karpathos in Greece |
Damatria beach is located in the southeast of the island of Karpathos, about fourteen kilometers south of the capital Pigadia. The beach is accessible via an exit that runs from the capital towards Afiatis and the airport. The road to it is asphalted. In front of the beach lies the small islet of Moira. Damatria is a beach with coarse white sand and white pebbles and beautiful blue and green colored water. The beach is generally reasonably quiet compared to some of the other beaches on the island of Karpathos, and normally in the water of the sea is reasonably calm. A limited number of umbrellas and sunbeds are available for rent on the beach. Since there are no trees along the beach renting an umbrella is the only way to get some shade, unless the sun is positioned in such a way that it casts shadows over Damatria beach. In the area of Damatria beach you can reach even more bays with small beaches via hiking trails. These small bays are situated north of the beach of Damatria. To the south are the beaches of Afiartis. At the beach of Damatria is a taverna called Poseidon offering the possibility to have a drink or something to eat. |
