THE VILLAGE AND THE BEACH OF FLOGITA IN HALKIDIKI IN GREECE |
The village of Flogita (sometimes called Nea Flogita - New Fogita) is situated on the coast in the west of the Halkidiki area about 6 kilometers north of the town of Nea Moudania. The city was founded in 1923 when refugees from Kappadokia from Turkey settled here. There are approximately 1200 people living in the village of Flogita. The distance to Thessaloniki is just over 50 kilometers and Poligiros is about 32 miles away from Flogita. The village is built on a hill and overlooks the Gulf of Thermaikos. Flogita has a beautiful sandy beach where you can rent umbrellas and sunbeds, and there are tavernas and supermarkets for the tourists. In some places the beach is surrounded by vegetation and what you can find some shade. Many residents of the nearby town of Thessaloniki, which is a half an hour drive away, have had a holiday house built in this area. In summer the beach is very popular and it can get quite busy.
