The village of Galatas is situated at around 5 kilometers distance of Chania on the route to Kolimbari. The village is not very large, yet it has a bit of life (plenty of taverna's and kafenions to choose from, a couple of supermarkets, a butcher, a bakery and several other shops). On the village square of Galatas there is a large white church. Galatas is set in a fertile valley and is surrounded my many orange trees and olive groves. The area is mainly agricultural and there is also some wild nature in the area. Footpaths will lead you along many trees and bushes, some even bearing wild fruits, berries, figs and avocados.
