This is one of my favourite accommodations in Crete and in fact in all of Greece: intimate, not expensive and with privacy, yet you are in the good hands of the owner Arianne, who is so nice that you would come back just to see her. Actually we go to this place every year just to see each other again and to set our minds back to zero at the beautiful pool. It is a place for peace and quiet and for people who enjoy hiking. On this spot in the west of Crete something really special has been created. Various facilities are located near the Ariana's Place, and yet there is virtually no traffic. There are beautiful views over the bay of Kissamos Kastelli and the accommodation is fantastic, one of my absolute favourites that I can recommend to anyone. There is dvd player in all accommodations (although I have to admit that in all my visits we never had it on) and there is wifi (never used that as well, but some people appreciate that).

In the vicinity of Kissamos are some interesting archaeological sites, gorges (for walking) and Byzantine churches (with frescoes). The town itself has an archaeological museum with beautiful mosaic floors and there are quiet beaches in the area. Arianne can also give great tips for trips that are not far away or for good local restaurants. Also in the town of Kissamos itself there are plenty of things to take a look at. There are remains of a Venetian Castle and remains of the Minoan and Roman period that are spread out over the town. In the port of Kissamos are some delightful taverns where you can eat and there are several quiet beaches in and around the town where you can go sunbathing, such as Korfalonas and Livadia beach. You can also make lovely walks along the coast, for instance along the beach called Nopigia. Also on both sides of the village there is a beach: one sandy beach is organised with umbrellas and sunbeds and the other is not.

Ariana's Place is a small complex comprising of a villa, an apartment and a studio. It is located just above the town of Kastelli Kissamos in the northwest of Crete. It has a quiet, rural location, overlooking the city of Kissamos and the sea on one side and on the other side are the mountains and olive groves. The small and intimate complex has a 50 m2 pool and a small bar (no: no loud music!). The pool is located a bit at the back of the residence to make it as quiet as possible for guests staying here. Here you'll find me a few days every year in September with a book and a cup of coffee because the Ariana's Place is also a wonderful place to do nothing and simply relax.

The villa is a former stone stable with two floors, which has been tastefully renovated to a high standard. The 40 m2 ground floor has the living room and the kitchen / diner. Upstairs are two bedrooms with an ensuite bathroom. Besides a veranda in the back of the house there is also a roof terrace with a sea view. Next to the villa are the studio and the newly built apartment. Both of them have great and very large terraces with beautiful views over the sea and the countryside. The studio is really spacious and cosy with a complete kitchen incorporated. The apartment is next to the studio and has two bedrooms and a living / dining area. It is all placed in a serene setting away from any noise and there is a lovely garden surrounding the pool and the accommodation. You will also find beautiful shrubs and pots with flowers everywhere. You can lie by the pool or sit on your terrace with a book and get rid of all the stress, or if you like you can make a walk in the area because it is excellent for hikes through the nature.

The pool at Ariana's Place is of a generous size and has a partition which separates a small piece for the toddlers. There are sun beds and seating areas and there is a small bar. It is quiet and you can find a lovely place in the sun and out of the wind. The pool is surrounded by beautiful plants and flowers and overlooks the mountains. It is reached by a path from the accommodation (20/30 meters). It is a nice quiet place where practically the whole day the sun is shining. At the pool are a number of large umbrellas for people who want to sit in the shade.

Both the studio and the lodge can accommodate an extra bed at 10 euro a night. For long term rental in the winter there are special prices on request.
