The beach of Kolymbada and the beach of Renes on the island of Skyros in Greece |
Just south of Kalamitsa Beach is another beach: the pebble beach of Kolymbada (with coarse sand, some rock and a sandy sea bottom), where it is so quiet that it is also used as a naturist beach. It is a long walk from the main road to this beach but even during the high season it is so quiet that you can take off your clothes and go for some nude swimming. Of course there are no facilities here, so bring your own water, especially since you also have to climb back up to the road. A little further south at the end of a fairly difficult dirt road (a terrain vehicle is needed) leading from the grave of Rupert Brooke lies the isolated beach of Renes with its white pebbles and gray coarse sand. The dirt track itself is about 2,5 kilometer long. Renes beach is situated in a bay which is well protected from the wind. It is a nice place to snorkel, because of the many fish that swim around here, and the water is very clear. |
