Makrigiani or Makrigiannis is a very small village in the north of the Rethymno district, just south of the villages Sisses and Aloides. It is just east of Theodora and can be reached from the exit on the New National Road - Aloides - Drosia - Makrigiani. There are not many people living in the village. I estimate that Makrigiani has around thirty inhabitants, because there are no more than ten houses. Striking are the large number of gourds hanging from the houses of the village. In the village there is a new but tastefully built small church and there is a small war memorial in memory of the First and Second World War. There is also a kind of small shop where fruit is sold.
