Marathokampos is a large village in the southwest of Samos. It is situated on a hill on the road that leads from Ormos in the south to Karlovassi in the north, and is concidered the most important village in the area. There are churches and nice village squares and there are a couple of tavernes, kafenions, a post office and a bank. The streets here are very narrow and curved. In Marathokampos you will hardly see any tourists and there are no accommodations for rent. For this you have to go to the coast where the villages of Ormos Marathokampou and Votsalakia are. The village of Marathokampos is situated in the middle of large olive fields and the inhabitants live mainly from the production of olive oil and olive soap. Others live as farmers. From Marathokampos there are nice views over the bay and towards Mount Kerkis in the west.
