The beach of Marpounta or Marpounda is located in the extreme south of the island of Alonissos, just below Vythisma Beach. The distance to the port of Patitiri is about three kilometres and the walk to this village takes about twenty minutes. Marpounta is pretty touristy and it actually consists of two beaches with golden sand and small pebbles, situated on either side of a small peninsula, and both surrounded by a white cliff. On the largest beach of of the two Marpounta beaches are sun beds and umbrellas for rent and you can practice water sports. There are also a number of tavernas.

Marpounta Beach is also the site of the large Marpunta Village Hotel and bungalow complex, which is highly preferred by the Italians. It can get quite busy here, especially during the high season in July and August. If you are looking for peace and quiet it is better to go to one of the other nearby beaches in the south of Alonissos, such as Mikro Mourtias or Megalos Mourtias Beach.
