ANTIPAROS HOTELS: MIKE'S PLACE, STUDIOS AND APARTMENTS IN ANTIPAROS TOWN |
In the evening the lamps on Paros and the small ferry that's sailing between Pounta (on Paros) and Antiparos make it feel like something out of a science-fiction movie. The honesty, sincerety and friendliness of the people that live there move me every time I go back. We found an apartment on a spot right on the beach with no road in front (so only the birds, the sea, the beach and the silence) with an extremely nice lady called Lillian, who rents studios, apartments and rooms at a good price (cheap!!). It's called Mike's Place and she has the best views in Antiparos village. If you are on the ground floor you have a terrace in the garden and if you are on the first floor you have a balcony, and a big table where you can have breakfast, or just a drink. You can also go and sit on the pier in front of the house and be in the middle of the sea. It's very likely I'll be your neighbour, because this is a place I return to almost every year. :). Quiet, comfortable and close to everything (the beaches, the restaurants, the supermarkets, te bakery, the ferries). People return to this place year after year (like me, I have been here so many times, but I often meet people that come to Mike's Place every year longer than me - and for a good reason!). Lillian had the whole building redesigned inside and outside in 2007 and everything has been renovated to an extremely high standard. It was done so tastefully and beautifully, we were very impressed. We popped by unexpectedly in May 2009 and after we had been smothered with plenty of hugs and kisses and a big, big smile from Lillian we could see it with our own eyes. It still felt like home because the views were still the same and Lillian was as hospitable and happy to see us as she always is. We had such a lovely time and it was hard to leave again after a couple of days. I took plenty of pictures of the apartments, the views and the surroundings because this is really a magical place, and it is now in a boutique luxury style with everything new: new kitchens, new beds, new flat screen tv's, airco, new furniture, new bathrooms, everything in the kitchen is new, in short: everything is new, except for the views and our friend Lillian. Lillian still holds the reception with her friend Anna and they take care of the guests all the time. The rooms are cleaned every day and these two make sure it is always tiptop when you return from your day at the beach. Lilian is really one of the kindest and hospitable people that I have met on the Greek islands and she also writes and speaks perfect English so no problems when you send her an e-mail or call her. |
