This is a small but interesting museum in Sigri about the petrified forest and all kinds of cheological processes (vulcanos) of the earth. The museum consists of only a few rooms but does have very fine examples: slices of trunks, cristals, fossilised plants and trees and lots more. Outside there is a walking area with petrified trees. Entrance fee in 2006 was 5 euro.
With the museum comes a snackbar where you can have a drink and something to eat.
In the garden you can take a look at more tree trunks from the petrified forest that have turned to stone. If you want to see even more you can visit the petrified forest itself, which is near the village of Sigri, but all over the southwestern part of the island of Lesbos there are examples of stone trees. You can also see them on the island of Nissiopi, which lies in front of Sigri and protects the village from the waves.
