Ornos is a populair tourist village in the southwest of Mykonos, with regular bus connections, only two kilometers away from Mykonos Chora. It's the closest good beach on walking distance from the town. It goes all the way from one side of the island (in Ornos, out of the wind) to the windy bay and beach at Korfos at the other side (meaning windy when the northern wind is blowing). It's a typical tourist place, but it does have at least one wonderful beach front restaurant, where they serve the best salads of the island. There are enough places to have a really good coffee or a drink, enough places for a good lunch or diner, and there are some supermarkets, a bakery, a pharmacy and a couple of tourist shops. There is also a variety of hotels, apartments, studios and villas that are being offered for rent on and around the beach.

Ornos Beach is a bit up market and with some style. The beach of Ornos is good, large and sandy, the sea water is clear, and the beach comes with parasols and sunbeds that are for rent. The southern part of Ornos beach is perfectly suitable for families with small children, because the sea is shallow and the bottom is sandy, so it is easy to get into the water. Because it is so safe you will notice also quite a few yachts like to throw out there anchor in this protected Bay. The northern part is favorite with windsurfers. It can get crowded in the weekends, just like on most beaches in Mykonos on a Saterday and Sunday.

Ornos is a good option for people that want to stay at a beach yet don't want an accommodation too far from Mykonos Town. Ornos has regular bus connections to Mykonos town and a taxi is cheap. You can also make the walk from Ornos to Mykonos Town if you like. Ornos is also one of the two starting points (next to Platis Gialos) for the small wooden boats that visit the chain of beaches in the south of the island.

Evagelia's Place is a small pension situated 4km from Mykonos town and 500 meters from the beach of Ornos and Aigos Ioannis.
