Alkiona Restaurant - Oia, Santorini

This restaurant is situated on the right side of the main road that is leading into the centre of Oia when coming from Fira, just after the large yellow church (which is on the left side of the road). They play nice Greek music and it is actually quite authentic and non commercial. There are plenty of different wines on the menu and the service is very friendly. Pizzas, salads, pastas, fish and grilled meat are a couple of the things that they serve here.

We order a Greek salad, a tzatziki, a tuna pizza, giros and white wine. The bread that comes to the table is not in one piece (and it should be to make sure it has not been on another table before) but is is fresh and tastes good. Lots of cucumber and garlic in the tzatziki, like it should have. The french fries are crispy and so is the bottom of my pizza. The pizza is very large and with lots of tuna on it: very good. The giros are very soft and not dry. My friend says he has never before eaten them this delicious. No pita bread with them, but handmade french fries. You can tell that the guy in the kitchen loves to cook. On our second and third stay in Oia in 2011 and 2013 we visited this same restaurant almost every evening to try it all again. It is close to where we always stay (Leandros Suites, where we already have the view of the caldera). It was still good and with a friendly service and we didn't feel like paying premium for a view over the caldera since we already had that all day at home if we wanted to. There is a nice and cozy Greek atmosphere in the Alkiona restaurant and it is actually quite busy because the food is okay. Our verdict: very good, a 9 out of 10

Taverna Blue Sky - Oia, Santorini

If you walk down the stairs from the square with the big church in Oia towards the square where the busses terminate, you will walk past the Taverna Blue Sky. You can not miss it because the building is painted blue and there is a large terrace. We have eaten here a few nights with satisfaction. The pasta and spaghetti were delicious, and the Saporo- and another salad that we tried here were very good as well. The spicey cheese dip is also recommended. The lamb chops and grilled dishes were perfectly fine, with crispy fries, fresh bread, a good drinkable house wine and a really nice complimentary sweet dessert. Friendly service and very reasonable prices for Oia, highly recommended. Our verdict: very good and affordable, a 9 out of 10

Art Café - Fira, Santorini

Café in Fira, with a beautiful view over the caldera, located on the left (quieter) end of the cliff, not far from the big white church. We ordered two cappuccinos, which cost 4.50 euro per piece (2009) but these are normal prices in Santorini. The milk is not warm, the taste of the coffee is good though. For a glass of water (that should come with it) we must ask. Our verdict: reasonable, a 7 out of 10

Select Lounge Café - Fira, Santorini

Restaurant in one of the cobbled streets of Fira. The Select Cafe Lounge has a truly magnificent view of Fira, and you pay for it. It is not cheap. A cup of coffee already costs 4.80 euros (2011). They sell different types of coffee, ice cream, cakes, fruit salads, normal salads, various types of breakfast, omelettes, pancakes, waffles, sandwiches and main dishes. We order a cappuccino with a chocolate cake. Both the coffee and the cake taste very good. The cake is warm. The total bill is 21 euros. Our verdict: good, an 8 out of 10

Levante Café, restaurant & cocktailbar - Kamari, Santorini

A nice restaurant at the beach of Kamari. They have soups, ommelettes, salads, pizzas and pastas on the menu, and serve also sandwiches, breakfast and cocktails. The bread comes in one piece and is fresh and the service is very friendly and correct. Nice and hot coffees and well presented food. Our verdict: good, an 8 out of 10

Dolce Cafe in Kamari - Santorini

Nice looking café on the corner of the of the main access road and the beach of Kamari. They have amongst other things different types of breakfasts, cakes, desserts, coffee, ice cream, omelettes, yoghurt and sandwiches. We order a cappuccino and apple pie with ice cream. The apple pie is warm and like the ice (with whipped cream) it tastes delicious. The coffee is good and they bring us a glass of water. Friendly service by a guy. Our verdict: very good, a 9 out of 10

Dodoni Café - Athinios Port, Santorini

This is a small cafe close to the departure terminal in de port of Santorini. They serve sandwiches, croissants, ice cream, snacks and there is Illy coffee. Friendly service, nice view of the harbour. Our verdict: reasonably good, a 7,5 out of 10

Cafe Bar Restaurant Spartacos - Athinios, Santorini

Rather a large internet café bar restaurant pizzeria (they are everything) at the harbour of Athinios. They serve coffee, omelettes, croissants, sandwiches, crêpes, apetizers, salads, grilled food, spagethi and pizza. We just have a coffee here while waiting for our ferry. The seats are comfortable, the people friendly and the prices normal. Our cappuccino is served with a glass of cold water. Our verdict: reasonably good, a 7,5 out of 10

Taverna Panos - Monolithos Beach, Santorini

Panos Taverna is situated on the huge of Monolithos. The menu includes fresh fish, grilled dishes, omelettes and various appetizers. The staff is friendly and naturally the views are beautiful. We order a cappuccino (Illy) and an omelette. No complaints, everything is fine and at reasonable prices. Our verdict: good, an 8 out of 10

Corner Snack Bar - Perissa, Santorini

Taverna at the end of the Perissa beach, on the waterfront, near the church. They serve coffee, breakfast, sweet and savory crepes, sandwiches, omelettes, burgers, club sandwiches and other snacks. The cappuccino is excellent. We order a club sandwich and a crepe with turkey, cheese and mushrooms. Everything tastes good and the fries are actually crisp. Fast and friendly service. Our verdict: good to very good, an 8,5 out of 10

Visanto Restaurant - Perissa, Santorini

For us the little "pearl" of the restaurants in Perissa. It is called Visanto but you might notice the sign that says "Thai and Indian Food". It is on the waterfront close to that fabulous plastic donkey you will see as you stroll along the boulevard. Besides the normal Greek food that serve Thai and Indian dishes, which we love. We were in Perissa three days and had dinner here three times as well. We tried all the different curries, from mild to hot and we had some fabulous side dishes (forgot the names but the humorous lady that works there will know what tastes good). If we are ever going to return and stay in Perissa in the future they will have to put up with us again. Nice ambiance and also a nice spot to have a drink afterwards and see the people walk by. Our verdict: very good, a 9 out of 10

Cyclades Restaurant - Perissa, Santorini

Situated on a corner on the right hand side of the main road as you drive into Perissa. We order an English breakfast here. The coffee is nescafe (which we don't like), but the rest is okay. There is toast, marmelade, butter, white beans, sausages, bacon and eggs, tomatoe, cucumber and a glass of water. It is all very cheap (5,90 euro in 2011) and not bad at that price. Friendly people. Ons oordeel: reasonable to good, a 7,5 out of 10

Akrotiri Snackbar - Akrotiri Beach, Santorini

Small snackbar with a very large terrace at the bus stop at Akrotiri Beach. The choice is limited to drinks, coffee, small snacks and sandwiches. The coffee is good though and the sandwiches (ham, cheese, tomatoe or fêta and olives) are okay. Inexpensive. Our verdict: reasonable, a 7 out of 10

Portobello Grill Restaurant - Akrotiri, Santorini

One of the restaurants that you encounter when you park your car at the main square of your Akritiri We ordered a platter for two, which includes saganaki (flambéed cheese), stuffed mushrooms, tomatoe-balls and spinach pie. Everything tastes good, including the house wine. Our verdict: good, an 8 out of 10

Restaurant Maria - Akrotiri, Santorini

Another restaurant near the main square of Akrotri, at the beginning of the village as you drive in from the direction of Fira. We order potatoes from the oven, a Greek salad, tomato croquettes, a cheese omelette, meatballs in tomato sauce and the house wine. Everything tastes very good and is well-seasoned, we are all satisfied. Our verdict: very good, an 8,5 out of 10

Villa Galinia restaurant - Akrotiri, Santorini

This is one of the two restaurants directly at William's House (where we stayed) in Akrotiri. No complaints about the food, and we have tried a little bit of everything. Of course the Greek salad, but also the meatballs in tomato sauce, the tomato balls, the saganaki (flambéed cheese), tzatziki, roasted peppers, chicken and many more things that are not all in the pictures. Very friendly service, good wine and a nice atmosphere. Our verdict: really good, an 8,5 out of 10

Zafora restaurant - Akrotiri, Santorini

Another one of the restaurants in the main square of Akrotiri. Here we try the stuffed peppers and tomato, the tomato balls and I take a pizza special. The food does not have much taste and my pizza is a real Greek pizza with a thick bottom, barely tomato sauce, too much cheese, fatty meats and mushrooms from a can and tomatoes on top of a can. The last ones are not warm. It is that I'm hungry but I'm not really happy. Our verdict: adequate, a 6,5 out of 10

Snack Bar Kabia - Kambia Beach, Santorini

If you can not cook, you should also not start a restaurant. After a long walk we sit down in this taverna on the beach of Kambia because we have become a little hungry after all the walking. We order a club sandwich and an omelette special. It's quite pricey compared to some of the other restaurants we have visited. My club sandwich consists of a few toasted sandwiches with cheese and canned tuna on it (strange combination actually I thought afterwards). On top are four slices of cucumber with a stick through it. It doesn't taste nice and also the fries are not crunchy. The special omelette is apparently so bad that my friend leaves three quarters of it on his plate. The service is very nice, but oh well .... Our verdict: if only the food was as good as the location and the view, a 5 out of 10
