Restaurant guide of Schinoussa island in Greece |
Below are some restaurants on the island of Schinoussa where we have eaten and that we have given a rating to. There are only a few because we were there only four days in total and two of the restaurants that we discovered were actually very good, so we went back there. In one of the restaurants we have only eaten there, in the two other more often, and the reviews are personal. You can have different experiences than me. |
Margarita's - Chora, Schinoussa |
Margarita's has a sign on the main road that runs through Chora, to indicate where they are. You need to climb some stairs and then you have a wonderful view over the sea. The house wine is excellent and the tzatziki we order is tasty and has plenty of garlic. The souvlaki we ordered was made of something out of the factory and comes from the freezer, a bit disappointing. The burger I order myself is not bad. Our verdict: a 6,5 out of 10 |
Loza - Chora, Schinoussa |
Taverna / kafenion on the square in Chora where you can order pizzas, pastas and other snacks, or where you can just drink a cup of coffee. It is popular with the locals and also with the tourists. Here there is someone in the kitchen that loves good food. We have eaten here a number of times and had coffee. It is also a kind of pastry shop, where you can get nice pastries to have with your coffee or delicious fresh cheese rolls. The first time we both ordered pasta. This is freshly prepared and tastes great. I ordered a vegetarian version, which was also very tasty. We got some olives, cucumbers and cheese cubes on the table. The bread is delicious and fresh. In Loza you can order a takeaway pizza. This is also very good and prepared with love. Often the pizza you order in Greece is not that fantastic, but Loza is the exception. Our verdict: an 8,5 out of 10 |
Deli - Chora, Schinoussa |
Deli also is marked with a sign in the street and like margaritas you have to climb a staircase to get there. Again a beautiful view. The taverna was recommended to us by the owner of the property where we stayed. The food here is really very good and we think that there is a professional cook in the kitchen. It was so good that we had dinner three of our four days on Schinoussa here. There is garlic bread and olives on the table. Delightful is the stuffed chicken breast, pork (the best part of the pig) and the stifado (stew). The fries are crispy. Recommended. Our verdict: a 9 out of 10 |
