More about Spiros Soula Apartments
Spiros Soula rents all kinds of studios and apartments with one or two bedrooms. They are quite spacious. All of them have a balcony or terrace facing the sea and actually have one the back as well (the gallery) with a nice view of the mountains and a couple of houses. It's very quiet in terms of traffic (almost nothing). A nice place we think, especialy early or late in the season, with a hospitable and friendly family (two brothers and father and mother) running the accommodation. Everything you need is here (supermarket, restaurant, swimming pool) so if you feel like relaxing much do you just stay here, have a swim and eat something in the restaurant. We had a one bedroom apartment. In the living room there were two extra single beds. There was a kitchenette and a fridge, TV, air conditioning and we actually had two showers:) haha .. Well: it was nice and definitely not expensive. A nice and quiet place for you to get rid of the stress. We thought the restaurant was pretty good (and it's really easy to have it so close to the accommodation), in our opinion the breakfast was a bit on the price (perhaps because we ordered seperate items, the standard breakfast is actually quite cheap) and the evening meal was pretty cheap. You also have the option to get fresh bread in the supermarket in the morning (on the grounds of Spiros Soula at the parking) and boil an egg yourself and make some coffee in the apartment. It's a recommendable place because of the quiet location, the friendly people and the beautiful views. The apartment was fine and somehow it had something homely.

Spiros Soula is an apartment complex in the village Ligaria (sometimes called Lygaria). This village is about 30 minutes / 20 km drive from the airport of Heraklion (but not in the flight path, so no problems with noise). It's a nice place to start your holiday or end it, so don't have to overstay in busy Heraklion, but instead spend the first or last days in a relaxed place. But it is also nice for a longer holiday, or for a stop if you travel from the west side of the island to the east (or vice versa). The village of Ligaria is accessible from a junction of the New National Road that runs between Heraklion and Rethymnon. There is a regular bus service to Heraklion, but a taxi is not really terribly expensive. If you rent a car it is even more easy. Lygaria Beach is a nice and relatively quiet place with a sandy beach, a few tavernas, two supermarkets and a café. One of these supermarkets is in Spiros Soula itself and at the complex there is also a restaurant by the pool (for breakfast, lunch or dinner). In the supermarket you can buy whatever else you need, including fresh bread. A twenty minutes walk away is the larger village of Agia Pelagia, with more restaurants and cafes.
