Fourni or Fournoi is the name of an archipelago of twelve small islands in Greece, which lie between Ikaria, Patmos and Samos. The two largest of this island group, Fourni and the Island Thimena are inhabited, as well as the smaller eastern island Agios Minas.
Thymena is the second island in size in the Fourni archipelogo, with only a handful of inhabitants that live in the one village that can be found on the island. Next to the village on a hill there is a monastery and when you walk past that hill you will see a small hamlet with a small beach. Also on he north east side of the island down a path there is a small beach which is accompanied by a small white church.
Thymena is very quiet and not many tourists visit it. You can reach the island by ferry from Samos. It has connections with Vathi and karlovassi (both on Samos), Ikaria and the opposite island of Fourni. From the last one there are regular connections by small ferry and by taxi boat.
The name Thymena comes from the thyme plants that grow on the island, but actually it is quiet barren and dry. The larger neighbour Fourni is much greener (mainly bushes) and I think that there is more thyme growing there than on Thymena.
