Live the life of a villager but in plenty of luxury: you can do this in Villa Atlantis. Behind the walls and the gates of Atlantis House you will find a little hidden gem. Villa Atlantis is a beautifully restored stone village house which is situated in the old part of the village of Plaka in the Apokoronas in Crete. The villa is located in a quiet street with little traffic driving through and surrounded by a wall so the garden and pool are not overlooked from the street. You can park your car park behind the fence so you never have to look around for a parking spot on the street. No carrying luggage or groceries over long distances.

On the ground floor of the house you find the living room with sitting area and television with satellite reception, DVD player and there is even a fireplace. A large old stone archway separates this area from the kitchen which has a large dining area suitable for 6 people. The kitchen is modern and offers all possible comforts. There is a gas cooker, an oven, a toaster, a microwave, a large fridge, all sorts of pots and pans, cutlery and glassware, a water cooker and a "French press" for making coffee. From the living room the large bathroom is accessible with its shower / bath, toilet, washing machine and stone sink. All fittings are classic and made of copper. A wooden staircase leads from the living room to the first floor where the bedrooms are.

Villa Atlantis House has two spacious bedrooms and can accommodate up to 5 people. One of the bedrooms has one double and one single bed and the master bedroom has a king-size bed. From the window of the master bedroom there are views over the sea and the bay of Almyrida. The mattresses are wonderful and there are extra pillows on each bed. On this floor there is also a nice terrace with table and chairs. Everywhere in this house there are doors opening to terraces where you can sit and have a drink or something to eat, and you can always choose a different view, or sit in the sun or in the shade. If you book this villa you will get a welcome pack which includes the book "Crete on the Road" by Frankie Miles. This is really a great book that describes all kinds of routes in the area and other parts of Crete (the west and south). This is a teriffic guide if you are going out for a drive to look at things, plus there is lots of great information that you will never see in any other guide.

Atlantis house is especially nice because of all the terraces around the house and because of the lovely walled garden and the pool. This garden and the pool lie in the sun almost all day, so the water in the pool has a nice temperature and in the garden you can always lie in the sun. In the garden are also a table with chairs and a parasol. The private pool is oval and measures approximately 6 x 3 meter. From the street no one can see you and so you have your privacy. Really a great place to be. There are pots of flowers and plants and there are a few trees, including a lemon tree and pomegranates. Between the garden and the house is a large tree with table and chairs where you can sit in the shade and read a book or where you can dine. On the other side of the house is another terrace with table and chairs. Here you also have a little sea view. On the first floor of the house is finally another terrace with table and comfortable chairs. Here you can also see a bit of the sea.

Atlantis House is situated in the old part of the village of Plaka, in a narrow and quiet street. There are refurbished houses and old homes in the street. At the end of the street is the road that takes you to the main square of Plaka or to Almyrida. Here is also the first taverna on the route. Everything is closeby. At 175 meters distance you find the main square of the village Plaka, where you can sit in the shelter of large trees in one of the taverns, and just behind that you will find a supermarket which is surprisingly good (better and cheaper than the supermarkets in the coastal village Almyrida). For example, you can buy fresh meat and chicken and various vegetables here which you will not easily find in other supermarkets in Crete. They also have fresh bread, cigarettes, batteries and many more things. There is a really good selection and the staff is very friendly. The village and the beach of Almyrida are 1.6 kilometers from Villa Ti Amo. Here are the ATMs, souvenir shops, a bakery, a number of small supermarkets, bars and some very good tavernas and restaurants where you can eat. Almyrida is a cosy and friendly little town with a couple of beaches (also suitable for families with small children because the sea is shallow).

The location of Atlantis House is private and quiet and there is no noise from traffic or people walking by. There are no discos or bars nearby, so you are in the old center Plake and can live the village life in luxury and silence.
