Villa Konstantin - Mykonos Town - our choice for the 2009 holidays!! |
This one was recommended to me by my readers, so we have booked the last days of our 2009 May-June holiday here. Villa Konstantin is situated on the edge of Mykonos Town on a quiet location overlooking the sea, the sunset and the island of Delos. The owner Sharon is praised into heaven by everybody and the Villa gets high ratings on all the websites including on Tripadvisor on which it is number one for hotels in Mykonos Town. Villa Konstantin is located 700 metres up on the Northern hillside of Mykonos town. A ten minute walk down into the centre. It is a small complex of studios and rooms. Overlooking the Aegean and offering wonderful sunsets and an feeling of openness not to be found down in the centre. Classed as self-catering studios and apartments the Villa Konstantin is quite different in style to the modern hotels of today and is more of a throw back to the past. For the review of our visit in May 2009 and my own pictures see below. Check availabilities & prices and book Villa Konstantin in Mykonos Town - click here. |
Villa Konstantin - Mykonos Town - About our visit in May 2009 |
So....we've been there in May 2009 and it was wonderful. We stayed in a very nice studio but I have also seen a couple of the other "rooms": one other studio and one apartment. They are all a bit different, but very stylish and with a homely feel. I loved my studio immediately. It had a bathroom with a full size bathtub, a kitchen with a table and chairs and comfortable beds. Outside was the large veranda with a beautiful tree full of pink flowers and with a view of the sea (most of the accommodation has a sea view). The pool was wonderful and large and there were plenty of sunbeds, chairs and parasols. Sea views again. |
The walk to Mykonos town down took us about 6 minutes, but up it took us about 10 minutes, ahah. But if you don't like to walk it is also possible to take a taxi back if you like. It takes only a few minutes and it costs close to nothing. So for us it was well situated, away from the noise and still close to the action. Sharon and Dimitri are the lovely owners and they, just like the super friendly receptionist Bernie, will do everything to make your stay as nice and memorable as possible. On our arrival Bernie gave us all kinds of updated information about the island and some good maps, both for the island and for Mykonos town (the last one with recommended and well priced restaurants and clubs). They can also help you rent a car with a reliable car rental company. The breakfast starts at 9 o'clock, but it was especially opened a bit earlier for us by Sharon when we had to leave for the airport (thanks also for the lift to Mykonos Airport Sharon!). There is (good) coffee and tea, milk, orange juice, grapefruit juice, several kinds of bread and cereals, cake, chocolate cake, Greek yoghurt, butter, ham and cheese, eggs, different kinds of marmalades and honey....maybe I forgot something, so plenty of choice. For sure a place to come back to! Villa Konstantin was a place with lots of service, where you knew that people were taking care of you and who wanted to be sure that everything was okay and you were having a great time. Because it is not so very large they can find time for the people that are staying there and this gives it a real personal touch. |
