This beautiful large stone villa with private pool is located on a hill just above the village of Gavalochori, in a region called the Apokoronas. It is about half an hour to forty five minutes away from the city of Chania and the trip from the airport is approximately one hour. The villa has three bedrooms and a separate studio that can accommodate four people. The maximum number of people that can stay in the villa is ten. We visited the Villa Prinolithos in September 2012. The name of the house comes from a tree, the Prinos, which surround the villa. Probably these trees are also used in the construction of the villa, because the ceilings are made with tree trunks. Prinolithos villa is in a very quiet and very private position, so ideal for those who seek tranquillity and and want the possibility to to sunbathe and swim without swimwear. The views from Villa Prinolithos and from the infinity pool are extremely pretty. You look out over several villages, including Gavalochori with its four churches, the villages of Aspro and Plaka, the green nature, the Souda Bay and the Akrotiri peninsula. In the woods around the villa are many birds and especially in the mornings it is a cheerful twittering and whistling.

For an impression of the villa (inside and outside) it is best to check out the movies that I mad. The first video from the pool and the view, the second of the villa and the third of the separate studio that belongs to the villa. This way you will get some idea of what the villa looks like, which is easier than describing it. Especially the view is difficult to put on a picture, and is actually much nicer than I can show here. In the evening and at night everything looks very different, with the lights of Gavalochori and villages in the area and even with the lights on the opposite Akrotiri peninsula on, it looks something like a Christmas tree, especially at a quarter past nine when the illuminated ferry passes by.

For anyone who booked this villa, there is a welcome pack. We found coffee, tea, sugar, biscuits, chocolate cake, jam, butter, feta cheese (goat cheese), bread, fruit, wine, water, orange juice, milk, water, a cleaning sponge and detergent, soaps and shampoos. In the villa there are also two great books of my girlfriend Frankie Miles: one with general information about Crete and all things that are useful to know, and a very nice book with all kinds of trips you can make by to have a look at special things in the area.

The separate studio Prinolithos Villa is located on the ground floor (where the pool is) and has its own entrance. A screen separates the sleeping area with two beds from the living area with the kitchen. The living area has a built-in bed and it's possible for someone can to sleep on the couch. In the back of the studio you find the bathroom with shower and toilet. The studio has a TV and a small kitchen with fridge. The pool has a seating area with four chairs and several sunbeds. Shadow can be found under the trees or under the pergola.

The staircase leads to the large terrace with several seating areas. This terrace is accessible from the living room / kitchen or the master bedroom. There is a large living room with sofas, TV and DVD player, and a dining table with chairs that separates the kitchen from the living area. In the kitchen you will find all the equipment you wish for, including a large fridge, a dishwasher, a microwave, coffee maker and all cookware. If you walk further you get into the hall where the first two bedrooms and bathroom with tub and toilet are. In the bathroom there is a washing machine. One of the two downstairs bedrooms has a double bed, the other has two single beds. There is a staircase to the upper floor where there are two single beds, a bathroom with shower and toilet, and a computer corner.
