Once upon a time a huge snow fell during the winter. A small bird called Pichchili was shivering with cold and wasn't even able to fly. It was just lying on the snow. In the meantime, a big and hungry bear came there looking for food. He took the small bird in his hand and decided to eat it because he was very hungry. Trembling with fear, and shivering with cold, the bird said, "I am about to die of cold. Please put me in the sun and eat me when I become warm and active." The bear picked up the bird from the snow and put it in the sun.
After getting the warmth of sun for a while, the bird became active and able to fly again. The bear took her and opened his mouth to eat. However, the bird said, "I can't satiate your hunger because I am too small. If you want to kill me, please think for a while and tell me." The bear said that he would take a bite of her even if she was small. The bird said, "If you are serious, let me dance around you. Then you can eat me." The bear let the bird dance.
The bird acted like it was dancing around the bear and flew to the branch of a tree. Laughing at the bear, the bird said, "I had already told you to think deeply, however, you didn't. If you had eaten me, I would have been turned to one dharni (2.5 kg.) of gold in your stomach and you would have gotten it. Now you missed the chance." Hearing the bird, the bear felt cheated. He decided to get the bird anyhow and began to chase her. The bird flew from one tree to another teasing the bear.
By the evening, the bear was so tired that he couldn't even walk. The bird flew near the bear and said, "You poor bear! You made trouble for yourself. I had already told you to think deeply, but you didn't understand what I meant. How can a small bird like me turn into one dharni of gold in your stomach? You really appear to be a dull bear." The bear became very angry for a while after listening to the bird. However, he later realized that he had been made a fool and felt ashamed. He didn't even look up in the tree and went into the jungle.
The small, but wise, bird made a fool of the bear who was a thousand times heavier by weight.
