A small bird used to live in a forest. He had developed a close friendship with a small frog called Tenten. Once a strong elephant came knocking down everything on his way. The bird requested the elephant not to harm her nest. However, the elephant didn't hear her and destroyed the nest of the bird, killing four of her chicks. The poor bird could do nothing other than watch her children die.
The bird went to her friend Tenten's (a small frog) house, crying and asking for help. Tenten said that he could kill the elephant if the elephant could be made blind. After thinking it over for sometime, they came up with an idea.
The bird and the frog went to a leach and asked for help. The leach said, "I can't destroy the eyes of the elephant, but I can make a wound in his eye." The three again thought for some time and decided to go to see a fly for help. Hearing the cruel act of the elephant, the fly agreed to help them.
According to their plan, the leach climbed up to the elephant's eye and made wounds on both of them. Then the fly flew to the eye and laid her eggs on the wound. After a few days, maggots developed from the eggs in the eyes of the elephant. The maggots destroyed both of the eyes of the elephant, making him blind.
The elephant thus became helpless. He couldn't go anywhere to find food and drink water. He remained hungry and thirsty. In the meantime, the frog went near the elephant and began to cry. Hearing the sound of the frog, the elephant thought that there must be water nearby. So he started to walk slowly towards the frog. The frog slowly took the elephant away, near a cliff, and started to cry loudly sitting right on the top of the cliff. The elephant was so thirsty that he moved faster. Thus, the elephant fell off the cliff and died.
In this way, the proud elephant was killed by small animals and an insect, the bird, the frog, the leach and the fly.
