If somebody asks me about Ukrainians, I will tell them that Ukrainians are very good and kind people. But... only one sin is on their soul. Everybody tries to be better than the other. This is a story about the results of this trying.
Once upon a time a Ukrainian caught a Golden
Fish. Just as he started to think how to cook this small, strange
fish, she said to him, " Please, put me back into the
water."
He was really shocked. It was the first time in his life he had seen a talking fish. But even in extreme conditions, Ukrainians are still a very considerate people, so he said, "OK! I can do this. You will have your freedom again, but what will I have?"
For a couple of minutes, the fish thought about this and finally said, "I will make your wish a reality. Only one wish. So think about this carefully. But I want you to know that anything that you wish, I can do, but for your neighbor, I will do this double. So wish very carefully!"
The Ukrainian thought a long, long time. In the beginning he thought about a big new house. But then his neighbor would have a bigger house! Later he thought about an expensive new car, but then his neighbor would have a better car!! After this, he thought about money. But then his neighbor would have more money!!!
Finally he made a decision... " I want you to poke my eye out!" he said.
