TSgt MILTON MAIMAN

Milton was going to conduct our Memorial Service at our upcoming reunion; he was traveling all the way from Israel! In fact, Milton and I, Edwin Beckford, were to share the same room. The service was to be brief, yet a little more than a moment of silence. It was to be comprised of: a short prayer, a reading from the bible, the lightening of a candle (using a RH zippo), the reading of the deceased list, reading of a couple of letters, and a blessing bestowed upon us. But instead, when I checked my e-mail Saturday Morning, May 22nd, 1999...the following letter awaited me:

Dear Ed, I'm sorry, but I have some difficult news for you. Milt began his trip to the U.S. last week and was in Pennsylvania where he contracted pneumonia. He was taken to the emergency room and admitted to the hospital. He seemed to be getting better until Tuesday. The Lord decided it was time for him to come home. His heart stopped suddenly and all attempts to revive him failed. I flew here immediately from Israel. The light of my life is gone, but I know he is with the Lord and is suffering no longer.

He was so excited about seeing you and the men of the 819th. He was proud to serve in Redhorse. I don't understand the timing and the sudden shock, but I do know the Lord has a Plan and that Milt was a very special part of that Plan. We must trust in the omniscience and Love of God in this event because we know that for those who love the Lord, He works everything together for our good.

The funeral service was today (May 21, 1999). He was buried with military honors at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. So many people came from all over PA, and New York and Maryland to honor him & to celebrate his life . I wish you could have known him as he had grown to become. He was always a unique and caring individual, but in 1974, he dedicated himself to the service of God and went to Bible School. Over the years, His teaching and passion for the Word Of God impacted greatly on many people. The Lord used him to restore broken relationships, and teach people to love one another as Y'shua (Jesus) instructed. He began a Missions organization in 1978. Later, He was ordained a Messianic Rabbi and was instrumental in beginning three different congregations: two in Penna. and one in Israel. He helped anyone who needed help. He spoke in many different churches about the Jewish roots of Christianity and helped to bring a deeper understanding to Jews and Christians. He loved people. I shall miss him terribly and the only thing that comforts me, is that I know I shall see him again. Death holds no victory over Milt Maiman. He is absent from the body, but face-to-face with the Lord!

M/Sgt. Milt Maiman, (USAF - Ret.) is survived by his wife, Lura, his three sons, Richard, Geoffrey, & David, and he has a brother, Ira, & a sister, Dorothy Goldsmith.

Please keep me informed with your happenings. I will be at this e-mail address til the first of week of June, then I will return to our home in Israel. With great sadness, Lura Maiman
