Info on Chebanse:

The Village of Chebanse is the first town south of the Kankakee Metro Area on Interstate 57. It is located along the Canadian National Railroad. Chebanse is a word form the Potawatomi language for "duckling". The town was created by the Illinois Central Railroad (now Canadian National Railroad), as the first stop south of Kankakee. The former rail depot is now the village hall.
