Pry the carrier our of the housing with a prybar or large
screw driver.
- Remove the gear lube fill plug from the front of the housing using a 3/8" drive
extension and a breaker bar.
Do not lose the plug. Keep it in one of the bags that you used for the differential and carrier parts.

The head of a 3/8" drive wratchet extensioin fits right in the
gear oil fill plug. I used a 1/2" drive to 3/8" drive reducer so
that I could use a 1/2" breaker
bar.

Looking through the front of the rear axle housing
(the side where closest to where the drive shaft
connects) you will see that you can get behind
the
pinion bearing race because there are two
recessed areas. Insert your punch into thsiarea
and after a few puches it will fly out of the rear
of the housing.
- Remove the inner bearing race with the same punch and hammer.
Looking through the rear of the housing you will
see recessed areas of which you can rest the
tip of the punch to dislodge the race (as above.)
A few punches
and this pops out of the front of
the housing.
