Fire Control Orders(FCO)
When the section comes under fire the section
commander (SC) will give the order to "Take cover!". The SC
will need to take control of the sections fire power, and he does this with
a FCO.
You must learn how to do this instinctively
so that you can:
a) Re-act
to the FCO correctly
b) Give
the order yourself, if no-one else can see the target.
To give a FCO you have to follow this
sequence:
G: Group- Who
you want to fire, eg/ Delta fore team, section etc.
R: Range- In
meters. How far away the target is, eg/ 100, 400, etc.
I: Indication-
Where to look for the target, eg/ Half right, up tree, 12 O'Clock, left of
bush ect.
T: Type of fire-
eg/Rapid fire, watch and shoot etc.
When you give the order, remember it is an
order, therefore it must be said like an order:
C:
Clear
L:
Loud
A: As
an order
P:
Pauses
TYPES OF FCO'S
The type of FCO you will get, will depend on
the type of target:
Brief:
"Sights down quater right rapid
fire!"
Full:
"Delta 200 left house doorway burst
fire!"
Delayed:
"Charlie 300 quater left small wood when
enemy appears rapid fire!"
Individual:
"No.1 Section 250 slightly left small
bush enemy in that area watch and shoot!"
