Agate:
Brown gemstone that amplifies the power of communication; gives the magic-user telepathy with another person or creature. Side effect—no oral communication while in use.
Alida Lopez:
A girl Score had a crush on in 2nd grade.
Amaris:
A beautiful female centaur. Shanara likes to take on her form when posing as a centaur. She is deep black all over, with a black mane. She has a weakness for collecting “sparklies”, aka gemstones.
Ambrose ronica present:
Transportation spell. Creates a mini-gateway between two places on the same world.
Amethyst:
Purple gemstone that amplifies the power to change an object’s size. Score is said to own an amythyst in book # 5 and Helaine is said to own one in book #3.
Analog:
Mobile, magical representative of the layers of dimensions and worlds in the Diadem. It was created by Sarman to balance the flow of magic in the Diadem and thereby free himself from Jewel. Each world is represented by a gemstone the size of a human fist. The center, Jewel, is represented by a gigantic diamond. The gems/worlds move in slow, stately path, orbiting the center. Each gem pulses with an inner light which is the magic and life-force of a magic-user. Sarman drained the life forces and magic of a magic-user from each world in the Diadem into their respective gem in the analog. As a result, by controlling the analog one has complete control over each world in the Diadem. Twelve years after Sarman began constructing the analog, the last three worlds on the Outer Rim, (Earth, Ordin and Calomir), were incomplete, causing the Disruptions as the flow of magic was incomplete. It was completed by Score, Helaine and Pixel when they sealed in the Triad and part of their own magic into the last three gems. The Analog is protected by a magic dampening field from a unicorn’s horn.
Aranak:
An elderly, bearded, ambitious, overconfident, Machiavellian wizard who ruled Treen. He was the most powerful magic-user on Treen, but was too weak to survive the journey to an Inner Circuit world. Under orders of Sarman he gave Helaine, Score and Pixel basic lessons in magic. He later tried to drain their life essences and magic so he could successfully leave Treen. Helaine stabbed and killed him on Treen.
