I might add a bit of information to Nick Mamer's biography:
On June 11, 1929, my grandfather, Henry Hackett, apparently took a flight from Bend, Oregon, to Crater Lake, Oregon with Nick Mamer Flying Service Inc. I am quite sure of such an event because I have in my possession an orange cardboard card approximately 3 inches by 4 inches with a photo of Nick Mamer on the right side and the heading: Mamer Flying Service, Inc. Felts Field... Spokane Municipal Airport.
The details on the front of the card read as follows:
Souvenir of Your Flight...2 hours Bend to Crater Lake & return.
Mamer Flown Plane
Field: Knott Bend...Elev altitude 9500 ft.
Ticket No. 5635
On the back of the card: In what clearly matches Nick Mamer's handwriting, as deduced from the style of his signature printed on the front of the card.
Left Bend at 10:30 am.
Reached Crater Lake at
11:30 am. Returned to
Bend at 12:30

Summer before last I took a trip to Bend and attempted to locate Knott's field, at the eastern fring of the city. The field is now covered over by a landfill.
