Okie Pinokie

The Story: This site used to be swampy and marshy and there have been at least 8 decaying bodies found there (reported by Mississinewa staff). This site may be an old burial ground of some sort or battlefield, as to the thousands of spirits hiding within the trees. You will drive down this gravel road, and the trees will begin to swarm and intertwine above you. You will then come to a circle. Getting out the car, it is said that if you whistle, someone will begin whistling with you from deep in the forest. It is also said that a noise like a pig squeal and dogs barking can be heard like it is right next to you. And last but NOT least, you will hear screams like a small child is being tortured; supposedly it is a 7-year-old girl named Stephanie. Also, traveling a long a path you will find a tree that has indents that appear to be much like deer antlers; HOWEVER, these are horizontal instead of vertical and have a place for an opposable thumb. Warning: DO NOT GO HERE, UNLESS YOU REALLY WANT TO BE TERRIFIED. (P.S. Do not "Ouija" here for the spirits do not like it.)

Location: SR 124  & 510E in Peru, Indiana

Directions: The easiest directions is coming from Logansport, Indiana.  Take East Us 24 straight into Peru, Indiana.  When you arrive in Peru, you will be on Main Street.  Stay on Main Street until you come to Broadway which is also known as 19, you will take another right.  You will first go over a bridge, over the Wabash River. Immediately after you go over the bridge is the road you want to turn left onto it. The road is IN 124 or locally known as River Road.  The road winds and has several vary sharp turns so be careful. When you see signs for the International Circus Hall of fame, you are close. After you pass the hall of fame you will go over a bridge. The road you want is the first road after this bridge that turns right. After you turn on this road it narrows. There are pillars marking the road you need. The intersection is SR 124  & 510E. 

We went out there twice.  Once during the day so we could find where we were going and get a better feel for the land and.  The first time was on September 29th.  It was a warm sunny day around 80 degrees.  First we traveled down the long gravel road only wide enough for one car.  There are tons of trees that hang above the road.  We stayed on the gravel road and at the end of the road there is a circle you and turn around on.  This is where all of the strange occurrences were suppose to happen.   There was a tail to the right we walked on for awhile.  There were many cold spots in the woods partially because of the shade from the trees.  There were two dogs up further on the tail one black and one cream color.  There are many farms near by so you can hear all of the animals.  We whistled and heard nothing.  We searched for the tree described but never found the particular one.  The trees were weird there because it was like they had thorns growing from them.  Nothing out of the ordinary really happened.

The second time we went out there it was October 12th  It was a cool night around 70  it was around 9 p.m.  We had our camera and tape recorder.  We took many pictures but very few came out.  It was very creepy especially in the woods.  We seen the black dog again and he was going nuts barking and running away from the area.  We whistled and something did whistle back, it was a bird wanting to mate with us lol.  We walked in the woods and it was freezing.  I turned around and there was a shirt on a tree  stump that scared the crap out of me.  We didn't really see anything, but when we got home and listen to our tape it sounded like someone said "get out of my forest."  At the time it was taken we just entered the trail to the left.  We did get some moving orbs and what I think is an image of a face in the trees

Another Investigation at Okie Pinokie

My friends and I traveled to Peru a number of times looking for Okie Pinokie, we just recently found the better directions and traveled there again this weekend, 6-12-04.  We were ready with cameras and video cameras.  When we got back to the roundabout my friends started getting creepy feelings.  I was video taping out the front passenger window towards the road entrance and my two friends were looking out into the forest through the windshield, no more than 5 minutes into being there they were saying OH MY God, OH MY God.  I didn't even have time to get the camera around to the windshield because by that time it was gone.  What they described is an object no bigger than a volleyball that was falling and a sharp angle from the sky.  All they could say was that it was brown in color with a glowing look to it and you could see through it.  I knew they really saw it because I have never seen my one friend (the one driving) look so scared before, we took off back towards the front and the pillars, took a break at a Wendy's and went back.  Throughout the second visit which was exceptionally longer, we heard strange noises in the forest and the usual what was that every 5 minutes.  We did whistle however we were in the car when we did this.

Another Investigation at Okie Pinokie

We went with my friend's daughter to Okie Pinokie.  We had went earlier in the day to find it and make sure we knew where it was.  It was June 17th 2005 at 1230am.  It was a clear night with a 1/2 moon.  around mid 60s I would say.   We had heard lots of stories about the place so were a little freaked out before we even got there.  We got out of the car and whistled, but nothing whistled back.  We started down one of the paths in the woods....We didn't get very far before we were all feeling very watched and in danger.   We stated repeatedly that we only wanted to take pictures and were not going to harm anything, but the feeling didn't lighten.  So we left not long after we got there.  this picture was taken when we first got there.  That is my friend Lena and her daughter Kimberly.  I should say that there was not fog and no one was smoking.
 

Another Investigation at Okie Pinokie

The first time I went it was at night with my best friend. His mom was supposed to be out there with her daughter and some friends so we went out to hopefully scare them, but they were already gone. So we drove back there and didn't see anything, but I definitely felt really weird. Its kind of like something is watching you or something. but other than that, it was just a normal woods.  The second time I went I was with 2 guy friends and 2 girl friends, and yes of course the girls were flipping out (one was crying), this time was also late at night.  On this trip nothing odd happened either...just that weird feeling. so today I went by myself. I think it was about 2:00. This time, when I was almost to the circle at the end, I rolled down my windows and whistled to see if anyone would whistle back like people had said. no one did. but as I was rolling my window up something growled in a VERY scary tone really fast.  It scared me to death.  It didn't sound like an animal at all, more like a devil or something. I definitely felt something very weird when it happened also. I drove to the circle this time and got out and whistled but nothing happened again. I will definitely be going back to see about that growl. I definitely feel that something is really messed up back there. if u go here, be careful because something definitely isn't right back there.
