[home] [613] the Torah(Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy)The Torah, so named because ... in Hebrew if you were to count every 10th letter from the beginning of Genesis to the end of Deuteronomy, the letters would spell over and over again... TORAH, TORAH, TORAH, TORAH, etc. These five books (also refered to as the Law of God, the Law of Moses) and houses the commandments of God, those refered to often in the New Testament, to study, for use in instruction, correction, reproof and showing proper doctrine (teaching) and forshadowing of the new covenant. Yet the new covenant does not as some have been instructed ... abolish our need to research it for better understanding of our need of relationship with God and to better follow in His ways; many of which are outlined in the Torah and are still applicable for the Christian today. Others can be used as references of forshadowing of the things that were yet to come and are fulfilled in full, such as the Sacrifices and Offerings section covers, which forshadowed the final sacrifice that Christ made for the sins of men. Our sacrifices today are those of praise (Heb 13:15) rather than of blood sacrifices and burnt offerings of animals. There is a list of the 613 commandments of the Torah, divided into 34 Sections. |
