Chapter 13
Katrina floated weightlessly to the side of the scene. She didn’t have to float, she could stand, sit, walk, or lay anywhere she wished, but she found floating and flying fun and thought she should enjoy something in the experience. The two people before her were far from her favorite persons and their words simply hurt.
“She is turning Lord Vader against me,” Palpatine confided to his favorite slave. “My vision showed what I believe to be a past event. She has caused far too much trouble in the past and I made it clear to Lord Vader as well as to the child that if I had to be bothered with the girl once more she would be put to death. She disobeyed me and my rules and Vader covered it up to spare her life!”
“My lord, I am shocked. I had thought Lord Vader the most loyal of your men. That he would betray you so, and for a little girl, is inexcusable. It is not my place to advise you, I know, but you must see that they have to be punished, made an example of,” TyraFem, Katrina’s mother, protested strongly.
“Darth Vader is far too important in my plans to destroy for something as minor as that girl. But he must be punished.”
TyraFem continued rubbing Palpatine’s shoulders, knowing all the exact places he especially liked pressure. She had spent at least half her life, living only to serve him and hard learned her job well. In TyraFem’s mind the fact that she was technically a slave mattered little, she considered herself his wife and tried very hard to be a good, obedient wife to him.
“Despite my efforts, the Rebel threat persists. They are led by a boy who believes himself to be a Jedi and holds a very strong tie to Lord Vader. I will leave shortly for a moon by the name of Endor where I will dispose of the so-called Alliance and make Darth Vader’s son my newest student. After that I will deal with the disgusting attachment that seems to be growing between the Dark Lord and your daughter. If he chooses to waste his time and energy protecting her I will give him a better reason to do so and a far more interesting opponent than a pitiful guard.”
Katrina pulled her spirit away, allowing herself to float through several thick walls and out into empty space. Palpatine was being tight lipped about his plans, she thought, but the Zanespot of the past had ways around that. Katrina simply closed her eyes and thought her way through time and space. When she opened her eyes again she was looking at the dark robed emperor as he sat on his throne, looking over a file on a data pad.
Katrina placed her feet on the flooring and walked around the heavy throne to look over his shoulder. The document was long but the meaning appeared simple. It stated ownership of his daughter Katrina was to be transferred to Avlis Ker upon receipt of the girl. Katrina shuttered in disgust and fear.
Palpatine scrolled down through the document and a second portion appeared. Katrina leaned forward and was surprised by what she read. It gave Katrina into marriage to Dark Lord Darth Vader.
“That can’t be legal!” Katrina’s voice burst into the silence of the throne room and she slapped her palm over her mouth. Palpatine continued looking over the document then entered his authorization code and set it down with a satisfied sigh.
“Sithspit!” Katrina opened her eyes and looked at the pre-dawn light just beginning to come through her bedroom window.
“You are upset,” Xenritha’s mind to Katrina’s mind. “What have you found?”
“Ker was right in his belief that he may own me. Before leaving for Endor Palpatine drew up a document making Ker my legal owner as soon as he was presented with me.”
“There is more on your mind,” Cha-Lee broke into her thoughts.
“Yes, the second part of the document I will need to think on, I had not expected it.”
