Dolly Construction

The process was really simple actually, First I used 2x2x36"in piece of aluminum angle iron to make the wheel trucks with, cutting them down to 4" sections (total of 4) then drilled a hole center of the angle iron for mounting the trucks to the platform. For the wheels I used an 8 pack of roller blade wheels, mounting two wheels per truck. In placing the wheels I just held the first one up to about where I thought I'd like for it to be and mounted it and went off of it for the installation of the second wheel. It’s also a good idea to use a small section of the PVC pipe needed for the tracks to test and make sure that your wheels roll smoothly. Then just copy the same process for creating the rest of the dolly trucks. Then I took a 1X4X8 built the frame and a 2x2 x 1/4 piece of plywood for the top. For the handle I used 1/2"in galvanized "T", a 4'x1/2 threaded pipe on both ends was used for the main shaft and bent it to about a 45 degree angle with a torch. (2) 6x1/2" pipes for the handles and 2 caps to close them off with. A flat threaded flange was used for the base of the handle. Total cost for this project was approx $60.00 and well worth it for the shots you can obtain.
