In case you have failed to recognize
it by now, you are engaged in a tremendous spiritual battle. I don't know
about you, but I am reminded of that fact every single day of my life. It
doesn't take long in the morning before I am attacked in some way by the enemy.
No one can honestly say that our enemy is lazy. On the contrary, our enemy
is relentless in their offensive onslaught in an effort to try and get to
us. The only thing that protects us against the attacks of the devil is the
whole armor of God.
Of a certainty, we are all very familiar with this particular
passage of Scripture. You might even have a bookmark with the "Whole Armor
of God" on it or something to that effect. Yet many of us do not realize that
we are at war. And in this war, we all have a role to play. It certainly is
a different role for each individual, yet each warrior's role revolves around
the only offensive weapon that God gives us in this armor, and that is the
Word of God. And that is easy to point out as well. Surely every Christian
knows by now that they have something to do in the Kingdom of God. And we
all know that God has provided us with this amazing suit of armor. Yet many
Christians are still being beat down by the enemy. So where is the problem?
Well, it certainly isn't due to faulty armor, but rather
in how we use it. You see, every piece of the armor that God provides us
with protects our front side. The breastplate, the helmet, the waist belt,
the shoes, and the shield all protect the front of the warrior. This is wonderful
when the warrior faces the battle head on because that puts the armor to
work. And that is what the armor was made for: fighting.
So this poses a dilemma for those who turn and run from
the call of God in their life. They leave themselves open and vulnerable
to the "fiery darts" of Satan. I can attest to that because I ran from the
battle for a little over 4 years. Satan had me depressed and feeling as if
I were nothing. Everything seemed to go wrong and I am so thankful I realized
that it was because I was running from the war. And Satan is coward enough
to shoot you in the back. He simply does not care. But you finally repent
and turn from all of the running and face the battle head on, Satan is no
match for the warrior that God has made you.
Whatever your position is in the body of Christ, we are
commanded to "stand" and fulfill what God has called us to do. And He has
given us a mighty defense and the best offense; insomuch that we cannot lose.
We all know that God has won the ultimate war over sin and death and Satan
knows that he has lost. But these battles that we face here on Earth can
get rather heated and we need you to stand and fight.
