We received a grant of £7,000 which we have used to purchase equipment.
The grant is to help promote education,social inclusion of the able bodied,disabled,children,young people and their families giving them increased confidence,motivation,improved communication skills,reading and handwriting skills through the medium of amateur radio,and gaining a nationally recognised qualification.
The equipment purchased will be used to teach and train young people,and to promote the hobby at public events,and try and encourage other people to take up the hobby.Our first call was to P.C.World,Business Advisor Chris Turner,he checked and assembled our order,and offered helpfull advice,(and with our business account gave us favorable terms)He proved very knowledgable,freindly and gave us our first photo opurtunity..

next wednesday 28th june its presentation night for all our equipment ...an an oppurtunity for all members to see what we have been able to buy with our grant money.

news news news ....in the next few months we are hoping to link up with a Siberian amateur radio club and forge links between Barnsley and Siberia,member Bill 2E0IPC is teaching english at a university in siberia,and is shortly to marry there,but he is keeping links in the uk and siberia....he tells us that last winter was the worst for a while and the temperature got as low as minus 65 degrees .............mmmmmmmmmmmmm must put a shillin in the meter....lol......but they do have a good mascot in front of their club house ...its a t38 tank ...how good is that!!!!!so keep looking for details we are going to arrange skeds....emails.....msn type meets on cam....and when we are both on events try to link up.....so keep looking here for more updates.....

Once again our annual jaunt to Conisboro' castle was a great success,working in conjuction with John G8LGC and George G0SSC.The weekend of 16/17/18 June 2006,great weather ,good company,and plenty of radio played thro 'out the weekend celebrating Castles and Stately Homes on the air .Many members of the Rose and Crown Radio Club stayed the weekend at the castle .Many members of the Rose and Crown Radio Club stayed the weekend at the castle camping out in the grounds,many contacts were made on HF including...GREECE,KEFALONIA,UKRAINE,THE AZORES,ALL EUROPE,MOST OF THE EASTERN SEA BOARD OF AMERICA,CANADA,including and interesting maritime mobile station off the coast of vermont on a 40 foot yacht running QRP.Antennas used were a sloping dipole,vhf/uhf vertical 100 feet from the ground on top of the castle keep.Great fun as usaual.
