Our team, formerly known as Singapore Polytechnic Japanese Institute of Software Technology (SP-JSIST) Japanese Drum Team, was officially formed in 18 June 1995 under the assistance of Mr. Noburu Higa, Urazoe City Mayor.

In 1996, our team was renamed as Singapore Polytechnic Japanese Daiko Drum Team (SPJDDT). The team, which started with only 4 members has grown to a strength of around twenty members each year.

Over the years, we have performed, to great success, at many major events, such as the following:

•  Wataboshi Music Festival
•  Festival of Arts Fringe 1996 to 1999
•  Singapore River Raft Race 1997 to 2003
•  Natas Travel Fair 1999
•  National Youth Council Opening Ceremony

In December 2002, we had the honour and priviledge of attending a workshop in Asano Taiko in Kanazawa, Japan, with the sponsorship of Southwest Community Development Council.The workshop was conducted by Ms. Jige Akemi, the leader of renowned Hono Daiko.
