Full Force by:
Herb Jones

All right ladies and gentlemen its time for the Full Force by Herb Jones.
First off I'm not going to try to give you several different reasons why you should read my column over anyone else's simply because you are going to make up your own mind yourselves. But, I'll just say this to warn I'm not biased…not too much any way and more than anything else in this world of wrestling that gets the different personas "over" with me is work ethic and general from what I can see respect for this particular industry.
Well since it's been all the rave and talk lately in the WWE and in general around wrestling sites and such I'll touch on the topic of the man they call Goldberg. As one of if not the fastest risen star out of the shambles that was WCW Goldberg truly did dominate all and go on an extremely impressive winning streak. A streak that was simply a testament to how quickly the fans took a liking to him and let the talent that he had shine. Now I know that the WWE can do a lot with good talent if they are marketed the right way but my question is exactly how do you truly market a guy already established as a big fish in a small pond? See I think the problem with a lot of these WCW folks are they have already been established as a certain character but within the parameters of what WCW expected from the talent. Meaning all personas were different in their own unique way. But, that's the problem in the WWE right now, it seems like everyone wants to be a badass M*ther F#cker and that's just not going over very well. When McMahon "blurred" the line between good and evil he certainly did a damn good job because it's tough at times to tell a heel from a face. And when that happens that's not good not at all. Because fan both you and old new or loyal need that good and bad, light dark to cheer and boo. Lately it seems that we haven't been getting that. Which a huge reason why I believe that Scott Steiner doesn't fit in the WWE. Oddly enough Steiner is just like HHH who is a lot like SCSA who has an attitude similar to Chris Benoit who has a chip on his shoulder like Hardcore Holly. You see in the end by making this line not distinctive enough McMahon might have shot himself, no he did shoot himself in the back in the long run. This could make or break Goldberg yet I'm reminded at how loud those Goldberg chants were on RAW last Monday and I'm almost tempted to think that he won't have any problems. Then again the way the fans popped for Big Poppa Pump I thought for sure he would be over for a little more than a month and a half. I mean the man didn't even get a Wrestlemania match. He could have at least been given some sort of show opener match or a promo. Geez he hasn't been at a Wrestlemania since Bret Hart was a one time World Champ. But I digress; my point simply is I hope the writers know what they are doing and that they wont write him into a position where he has to degrade the persona he built so long building.
I could go on and on with what I think is wrong with the WWE right now like it seems everyone is but next time I will focus on what they are doing right and surprise surprise they are doing quite a surprising number of things right. So until then I hope you all have a safe week.
