The following pictures were submitted by SP5 Raymond "Dale" Rice, former member of C Company. These were taken by Dale during his assignment to the advance party which had the mission of building
"Camp Ruam Chit Chai"
future home of the 809th Engineer Battalion (Construction).

Camp Ruam Chit Chai, The Beginning
In the beginning there was jungle...hot, thick, buggy, dirty, swappy, sweaty jungle!
Well, the men of C Company with their big toy's new what to do. Dale say's he got to make the first cut
 Clearing the jungle
 Hard labor
The big machines could not do everything...muscles and sweat were needed constantly.
This is Nicols on his TD 24. You can see the hootches starting to go up in the background.

This was a common sight through out much of Thailand. Hand pumping fuel into the vehicles and equipment.
 A little muddy out here
Rain was good for cooling down the body but also made it muddy. This is Nichols with mud all over him.
