"Wow...it's so great that your back...even if it's only for a week." Sarah said later on that day. The four girls were all sitting in Emily's bedroom with a bowl of popcorn, nachos, and a couple of cokes.
"So.....for your birthday...where do you want to go to?" Alli asked, shoving a nacho in her mouth.
"Um...what about Carisale?" Megan said hopefully. Carisale is an arcade and resteraunt that Megan and her friends would always go to hang out at. It was an all time favorite for Megan.
"Sure. I'll call Jake and Tarren and have them meet us there." Sarah said.
"What about Robert?" Megan asked hopefully. Sure she had a quarell with him, but she still wanted to be his friend.
"I don't know if thats such a great idea...he's changed quite a bit." Alli said, trying to "protect" Megan.
"OK...whatever. Let's just have fun...ok?" Megan said, trying to put it behind her.
"Ok....so let's go call everyone, and get ready to go. It's already 5:00pm" Emily said, noticing how uncomfortable Megan was getting.
The four girls went down the hall into the kitchen to tell Connie their plans. She agreed that they would leave in an hour. Naturally, all of them rushed to get ready. Alli choose to wear a red O'neil tank, and dark blue jean shorts. Sarah wore a yellow tank with a butterfly and stripe on it with light blue jeans. Megan descided on wearing her cute Dr.Suess fish shirt with her khaki shorts. Emily picked out a strawberry shirt that looked perfect with her capri's. By the time they finished getting dressed, do their hair and makeup and call Tarren and Jake to have them come...it was time to go.
"Hey!" Tarren said, giving Megan a hug. "Glad your back. And Emily, glad your back from your visit."
"Thanks Tarren. Hey Jake."
"Hey" he said, smiling and giving her a hug.
"OK...enough mush! Let's party!" Megan exclaimed.
"OK...we'll eat first, then play, ok?" Emily said, rubbing her stomach. She didn't eat as many nachos as the rest of them. Everyone agreed as they all sat down at a huge booth.
"Ok...open your birthday presents!" Alli said, that was always her favorite part, because she usually got the best presents.
"Okie Dokie" she said, and grabbed one of the gifts sitting on the table. The first one she grabbed was from Tarren.
"Happy Birthday pal. We miss you lots here, but we're glad your liking your new home. I wasn't sure what to get you, so enjoy." Megan read her card aloud. She then opened the box that was with the card, and in it was an 18" circle chain link necklace. It was one that Megan had seen before that Tarren knew she liked. "Thanks a bunch!" Megan told him, grateful for the gift.
The next present was from Sarah. She had gotten Megan a Silver Dickies mini vert messanger bag, that Megan totally loved. Inside it was a little lip gloss and lotion thingie from bath and body works. "Thanks babe."
Sarah just smiled, and said, "Welcome." Megan continued opening her presents and ended up with a cute butterfly shirt from Alli, with a necklace that looked good with the shirt. Emily got her a picture of her, shelly, and megan all together framed, and a cute pair of earings. Jake got her a gift certificate for Stones River Mall, so she could go shopping while she was here. Megan thanked everyone, and finished eating. She was ready to party!
Carisales had an arcade, lazer tag, go carts, and the bowling alley was connected to it. Next to the bowling alley, was the indoor sky surfing place...which Megan loved doing! They were having a blast with all the exiting things to do. Jake whooped everyone's butt in the go-carting races, but Megan and Emily had so much practice with video games and lazer tag on Zac...that they whooped everyone else's butt in those stuff.
"That was a blast!" Sarah exclaimed as they walked out of the lazer tag room, for the 5th time.
"Yup! Let's go indoor sky surfing!" Megan said, getting all exited. Everyone agreed that it sounded like alot of fun, so they grabbed their stuff, and walked down to it. Everyone one went in and got all suited up. hey got their pictures taken before they went in, so they could remember it forever, and they went in and "flew".
"Ahh!" Everyone was screaming their lungs out. They were having so much fun. About half an hour past and everyone was exhausted from all the fun. They were just returning their suits and the equipment they used, when Megan just froze in her steps. There he was, standing in the doorway. It was Robert. He was totally dressed in black and leather. He'd even gotten his ears pierced, which before, he was totally against. What had happen to him?
"Megan, you OK?" Tarren asked, not aware that Robert was there.
"Eh....I don't know." she said, pointing in the direction that Robert was standing.
"Oh lordie..." Alli began.
Neither Emily or Megan were "prepared" for that. Robert had been the athletic, preppy type. Now he looked like a grungie freak.
"What happened here?" Emily whispered to Sarah as Megan walked up to him.
"Um...I guess you could say he went into a depression stage? I'm not exactly sure, but it's starting to scare me." Sarah said, with a look of sadness on her face.
"Robert?" Megan said in a questionable voice. She looked at him in horror. It's not because their was a freak standing in front of her, it was because the freak was Robert. It was totally unexpected.
"Hey." He mumbled, walking off and bumping her as he did.
"His last tart popped." Emily said after Robert was gone, and eveyone was walking back to the car to leave.
"It's not funny Emily." Megan said, taking it a bit seriously. "Since when did he become that?"
"Um...a couple days after you left actually." Jake said, not relizing that saying that would only make Megan feel bad.
"Oh great...so I did that?" she asked herself outloud.
"What?!? Of cource not...he's just been hanging around the wrong people. Don't blame yourself for it." Sarah said, trying to comfort her.
"Yeah...it's OK. Hey, how about you give us the scoop on your boyfriend." Alli said, trying to change the subject to make Megan feel better.
"Yeah, OK." she began, still a little upset about Robert. Once she started talking about Zac, and the rest of the Hanson's, she cheered up quite a bit, at least temorarily.
