I got my very first hammy today!! I went to the pet store planning on getting a female... instead I got Monty. He is sitting in his cage eating a piece of corn right now. He says hi! The thing that made me choose him instead of a girl was the way he greeted me in the pet store. He was hiding in a tunnel and the girl working at the shop picked up the tunnel to get him to come out. She held the tunnel kinda high in the air, so I put my hand under the opening. He slowly came out onto my hand and looked at me, with his little paw on my finger! I fell in love!
When I got my hamster my sister was there. We got in the car and we thought of Teddy Bear for a name. Sometimes we call him just Teddy. When we got home I showed my dad. He was unhappy, but he let me keep him. Now he likes him and calls him, "my Teddy Bear".

I have a long haired hamster called Hollywood. He is very funny. I know helikes me and my brother because he likes to show off in front of people andlikes to cuddle with us and play with us. Well one day my brother had asleepover. We were all looking at Hollywood and he looked at us. Then one of mybrothers friends said, "He doesn't do much does he?" Then out of nowhereHollywood jumped on the wheel and started running real fast, then hestopped but the wheel didn't so he started flipping around. It was reallyfunny but he was ok and to our surprise he wanted to do it again.

I got my very first hamster today. Her name is Sonya. She is brown with a white band through her middle. When I was at the pet store I was looking for a Female. Then I saw The Most cutest ball of fur being stepped on by a male. It was love at first sight. Now she lives in a Habitrail Safari cage with a little look out deck.

In 1992, I was planning to move across the country by bicycle fromSpokane, WA to the NE corner of PA. I had a 2 yr old Teddy Bearhamster named "Schroeder" at the time. I got him when he was just afew weeks old and I didn't want to part with him so I took him alongwith me. I found a small animal cage the right size to fit in the mainpocket of my handlebar bag. He also had a designated front panniercompartment for his food, shavings, and other things.
Schroeder seemed to enjoy the idea that he was the first "crosscountry cycling hamster". Most of the time he just curled up inside ofthe wood shavings and slept most of the time. He did enjoy being letout to experience the country when I stopped for breaks or let him outin the tent at night. Sometimes, he would crawl on top of my chest andcurl up to fall asleep. He had no medical problems throughout the tripand he had no dietary problems also.
He also liked to attend church with me and sat with me on the pew. Thekids enjoyed him a lot. Schroeder also made it into several papersacross the country.
I had a lot of fun with him when we met new people. People would askme if I was traveling alone and I would tell them that I wasn't. Theywould look around for another cyclist. When I took Schroeder out ofhis cage, they were quite amazed when they saw him. I also liked tosee the reactions of kids at stores when I told them if they startedto hear snoring coming from the bike they should come and find me.
Schroeder actually traveled over 3,300 miles by bike because I hadtraveled on to Philadelphia, PA. He even survived a 30 hr. bus tripback to Spokane by Greyhound without any problems.

I went to buy a hamster since I'd been keeping them for almost 10 years... I bought Cinnamon because she seemed like she wanted out of the store so bad... I got her on a Tuesday. On Sunday afternoon I went to pick her up and cuddle her and there were 6 tiny pink 'erasers' nursing away!! I couldn't believe it... I didn't even know she was due to deliver... No matter I kept her and her little brood and we all lived happily ever after!
Three days ago I got a new teddy bear hamster, and I decided to name it Teddy for obvious reasons. The very next night I tried to pick him up for the first time. He did the cutest little pose a hamster will ever do and probably never again. He put both paws on my finger and laid his head down on them looking at me with those black marble eyes of his. I was so totally melted I couldn't move.Fortunately I had my camera on hand, and I got a shot of this adorable pose. From then on his name was C.C. It stands for cute and cuddly.v-Kayli and C.C., 13 and 5 months
On Febuaury 19, 1997, I was given a hamster for my birthday. It was wonderful. I was taking care of a little life that needed me. I was 12 yrs old and couldn't believe how cute my little Teddy Bear hamster, Calvin (named after Calvin and Hobbes the comic, was! I had never taken care of another life in my life! I felt so responsible. I cleaned the cage every week and babied him everyday. Then, thefollowing summer, on June 7, 1997, I once again was taking care of another little life, Chuckie, named after Chuckie on Rugrats. Now, I still am taking care of two wonderful lives that I have brought into my heart since Febuaury 19, 1997. My heart is still open to any hamster that I will take care of.

This is Mike's hamster Link. Mike says, "He looks like a white mouse, but he is really an albino Dwarf Siberian hamster. I love my hammie. (So do my 2 dachshunds -- yikes!!) He loves his exercise ball. He may be small, but he sure can run!"
