Our Relatives Who Fought And Died For Liberty Of Our Southern Family And For Freedom Of Our Beloved South
From The Oppression Of A Northern Dominated Federal Government!

Our Great Great Grandfather, Jonas Simpson,
fought and died under this flag. He was killed
fighting for his homeland during the battle of
Vicksburg. He was a member of the 52nd
Georgia, Allegheny Rangers. His story appears
on a web page linked to this one!

Dorlis pointing to the name of Enos Gray
(brother of our great grandfather, John
R P Gray). Enos fought for the south and
died in a northern camp for prisoners
of war.

Bud pointing to the name of Jonas Simpson,
our Great, Great Grandfather. Jonas was
the grandfather of our grandmother
Callie Walker Gray. Jonas died at the battle
of Vicksburg. You can find his story
linked to this webpage.

The name of Jonas Simpson can be seen in
this picture of the Civil War monument. The
name of Enos Gray is on the left side but I'm
afraid I missed it when taking this photo.

John J. Gray is not listed on this monument since
he is from a neighboring county and another regiment.

I wish to thank my brother, Bob Gray, and his wife Norma, for their extensive research of our family history and for the documented accounts of our family members who bravely served and gave their lives for the south and our homeland.
