I was born in Saigon, Vietnam on January 3, 1977.
My parents decided that we had to move to America to
maintain our freedom eventhough the fall of Saigon was
a few years back. My parents decided to leave all
their belongings and relatives inorder for a brighter
future for their children.

The trip had to be a secret because if the Viet
Congs had known what we were about to do they would
have us imprisoned or even executed. My parents
decided to go at night in the darkness of the jungle
so no one would see us. However no one could keep me
quiet except for my grandfather; so he hid me in a
basket and pretended that he was harvesting
coconuts.

Anyhow to make a long story short we made it on the
boat and headed to Malaysia where my family spent 6
months in a concentration camp. From there we flew to
California where we awaited our greencard. From there
we picked up a sponsor that lived in Chicago, Il. My
sister was born a few months after we made the move to
Chicago therefore making her the first U.S. citizen in
our family. From there we moved to Texas where most of
our relatives were already settled.
