"The liner notes of this compilation are laid out like a basic how-to manual, which is appropriate enough. For this album, 16 young, local bands each wrote recorded and produced one original piece of music (no convers!), under the direction of the Warehouse. Perhaps it's testament that things are looking up in the SAR's indie rock world; this year's CD is much better, and much more varied that the first Be Original, released in 1998...On the harder sige, we have the high voltage "hell song #5" from established punk band King Ly Chee and the Fascist Giraffe's intelligent "Destroy Your Scene" (and create something new)...These songs succeed to varying degrees; but what's really important is that they are pushing the boundaries of music in Hong Kong today -

FG's Self Titled Debut. 9 ear splitting tracks of pure filth and mayhem! The Fascist Giraffe made their name in Hong Kong's underground scene for electrifying live performances and their amphetamine driven style of hardcore(in any and all venues)- this volatile debut captures all the raw power that is The Fascist Giraffe and callously imprisons it on one evil compact disc.
Recorded and engineered by Alex Au (and FG) exclusively in Hong Kong in true D.I.Y fashion - whilst maintaining highest quality recording.
REPORTon the recording process, written by Moon
"Hong Kong's OWN hardcore/punkrock annihlators, The Fascist Giraffe...If you thought HK only released goddamn rap/metal shit or pop/punk then you'll heavily ve slapped in the face with these freaks and with this RAW ass recording. Recorded at HK's infamous home of punk/hardcore The Warehouse by the man-the myth-the legend Alex (Fei Keung), this collective chatotic mess that is THe Fascist Giraffe masterfullly recorded 9-songs capturing the immense spazz-core/hardcore/ and punk rock energy that these boys release at live shows...This record is something HK should be proud of...Quality HK punk/hardcore is alive and well."
Start from Scratch
"Hardcore fans will love the sound these guys produce, as well as the (not surprising) controversial lyrics ... But that’s what you gotta love about FG (and hardcore in general, I guess) – their forceful lyrics and their singing/screaming really are about where they stand. The music is fast, energetic, emotional ... it leaves you hanging on and wanting some more of that aggression" [ Her Majesty' Zine (HK)]
"Fascist Giraffe; What else could this group of anarchist musicians be but equal doses thrash, trash and smash? FG's motto: "We don't believe in music, we believe in destruction." Need we say more? Members Rogier (bass, vocals), Nadim (drums, vocals), Arthur (guitar) and Amin (guitar) believe the Hong Kong music scene should be about fun, energy and challenging a listener's preconceptions about the whole world of music. Don't expect any rules on their self-titled debut; it's about as confrontational as you can get"
